This special "theme" edition of a newsletter focuses on learning disabilities of adult participants in literacy programs. It is a collection of organization profiles, editorials, resources, and examples of collaborative efforts between learning disability and literacy organizations. An overview of this issue is followed by an annotated list of organizations involved in providing services for individuals with special learning needs. Eight organizations deal with literacy and nine with learning disabilities. The next section contains descriptions of nine collaborative efforts between literacy and learning disability organizations. Other contents are as follows: a success profile of a participant with a hearing problem and dyslexia; glossary that includes definitions of categories of learning disabilities and characteristics of learning disabilities; two successful learner profiles from adult basic education/learning disabilities in St. Paul, Minnesota; and editorials on "Learning Different" and "Learning Strategies." The newsletter concludes with information on current video and print resources; a list of 9 suggested readings; descriptions of 17 other agencies, organizations, and businesses that provide services or products for learning disabled learners and literacy providers; and information on technology resources.
