A statistical evaluation of higher education in Europe for the years 1980-1985 is presented with a synoptic view of the strategies and policies adopted by member states in development of their higher education systems. The extensive tabular and narrative data are presented in nine chapters divided into two parts--Part I on higher education in the Europe region during this period, and Part II on research and experimental development (R & D) in Europe during this period.
