The "Do-It-Yourself" Library Move: Consequences for Staff Interactions and Morale.
Moreland, Virginia F.; And Others
A "do-it-yourself" library move may produce significant changes in the established patterns of personnel organization and behavior of the library staff. However, most previously published work on the topic of moving a library collection concentrates on procedural aspects of a move. This study recounts and analyzes the impact of such a move on library staff attitudes and morale. The authors used their direct experience and a post-move survey to determine staff attitudes before and after the move. They determined that such a move can achieve a sense of team building if careful attention is paid to personnel issues, but they could not determine whether this effect was long lasting.
