An analysis of Ohio's school choice options and the likelihood of their implementation from the conservative perspective is provided in this paper. The following issues are examined: conservative arguments for school choice; the extent to which conservative arguments are related to conservative movement themes; the extent to which conservative arguments threaten education; and the probability of implementation. Methodology is based on historical investigation and document analysis. A conclusion is that the three choice components of Ohio's Senate Bill 140 fail to meet the requirements of the conservative agenda because the bill offers: (1) no choice between public and private schooling; (2) no solution for funding inequities; and (3) illusions of choice. Ohio's educational establishment will resist the bill in order to justify its own existence, while the conservative agenda for choice questions the moral legitimacy of the existing system.
