Review and Assessment of Secondary Trade and Industrial Education Curriculum. Final Report.
Greenan, James P.
An assessment was made of the needs of secondary trade and industrial education curriculum in Indiana. The study also identified those skills and knowledge that are important in trade and industrial occupations in business and industry and in secondary trade and industrial programs. Three surveys were conducted: (1) Business, Industry, and Labor (BIL) Curriculum Needs Survey; (2) Local Curriculum Assessment Survey; and (3) National Curriculum Assessment Survey. The final response rates were as follows: (1) BIL survey--165 of 250 (66 percent); (2) local survey--188 of 250 (75 percent); and (3) national survey--43 of 55 (78 percent). The quantitative data for each of the three instruments were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods and the qualitative information was analyzed using categorical and frequency procedures. Twenty-three recommendations were based on the results of the three studies. (Fourteen references and five appendices are included. The appendices are as follows: BIL curriculum needs survey; local curriculum assessment survey; national curriculum assessment survey; BIL and local survey data table; and skill and knowledge chart.)
