This document presents the proceedings of a symposium on education and the arts, humanities, and sciences convened by the State of Pennsylvania. The document begins with an introduction by Sondra Myers, Cultural Advisor to Governor, Robert P. Casey. The symposium was moderated by Thomas K. Gilhool, Secretary of Education, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Speakers included Alberta Arthurs, Director for Arts and Humanities, The Rockefeller Center; Benjamin Ladner, President, National Faculty of Humanities, Arts, and Sciences; Donald Stewart, President, The College Board; and Richard C. Wallace, Jr., Superintendent, Pittsburgh Public School System. The symposium participants discussed the role of the arts, humanities, and science in meeting future educational challenges. (DB)
