Students in Texas who seek to advance their proficiency in vocal or instrumental performance may participate in the Applied Music (Individual Study) Program. Enrollment in the courses of this program and the establishment of time parameters are determined by contracts between students and schools. The first part of this guide discusses the administration and course requirements of the Applied Music Program. The second part contains lists of approved music to be used by students in completing their courses of study. Lists for piano, organ, classical guitar, and other instruments, and voice are included. Five appendices include: (1) Essential Elements of Instruction; (2) Student Contract; (3) Performance Examiners' Adjudication Sheet; (4) Examiners' Assessment of Performance; and (5) Course Procedures.
