Resulting from a National Association for Foreign Student Affairs (NAFSA) Field Service seminar, this document presents information on various aspects relating to foreign student services at U.S. universities. After an introduction, chapter 2 provides an institutional checklist for foreign scholar services. Chapter 3 presents an overview of foreign student concerns, discussing such factors as institutional responses to foreign scholars' needs and expectations, and the quality of services provided by U.S. academic institutions. Chapter 4 discusses various policy related issues regarding the provision of institutional services to foreign scholars on college campuses, including the establishment and validation of policies and the implementation and coordination of procedures by the foreign scholar office; legal considerations in the employment of exchange scholars; tax considerations and information for foreign scholars; and information management of international faculty records.
