This curriculum guide provides instructional materials for an 8-week training program, entitled Hospitality Occupational Skills Training (HOST) Cooperative. It offers an alternative skills training program to meet the needs of disadvantaged, minority populations and of employers who must recruit more highly skilled workers from those populations. Eight instructional units are provided: orientation; hotel industry enhancement; employment-related critical incidents; preparation for communication skills; introduction to occupational skills; employment critical thinking skills; management for employability; and job seeking skills. Eight to 15 activities are presented for the 4 days over which the training is spread during each week. An information sheet for each activity provides the activity title; length of time to complete; vocational education and adult basic education competencies covered by the activity; and suggested teaching activities.
