This casebook has been compiled in response to the expressed need of administrators, counselors, and teachers of occupational education in New York State to share knowledge about programs and initiatives that are successful in helping at-risk students remain in school and graduate with sound occupational skills. Each initiative described in this casebook identifies a contact person who is available for information and materials, to arrange cases-visitations, and to provide other assistance as needed. The programs described include advocacy services, alternative education, counseling services, GED preparation programs, pregnant and parenting teen programs, recreational programs, remedial education, student support services, tutorial programs, and work experience programs. The casebook is divided into the following sections: (1) listing of program initiatives; (2) listing of technique/strategy initiatives; (3) listing of program component initiatives; (4) listing of other initiatives; (5) initiatives categorized by age group; (6) listing of initiatives by name of BOCES; and (7) listing of initiatives by school district.
