This study was conducted to determine the different perceptions that potential students have concerning Cardinal Stritch College (Wisconsin) and to determine the usefulness of various sources of information about the college. Students (n=76) accepted as entering freshmen were surveyed in order to determine their perceptions of sources of information and college characteristics. Analysis of responses by sex, distance of college from home, American College Test scores, high school percentile rankings, and intended department of study revealed differences in perceptions according to respondent groupings. Major influences regarding a final decision on college attendance, decision time lines, and identification of competitive colleges are also presented. Among the findings were the following: (1) in rating desirable college characteristics, students gave the highest mean ratings to quality of faculty, student/faculty ratio, career placement opportunities, general reputation, size of college, and variety of courses; and (2) influences on making a final decision included size of college, distance from home, general reputation, student/faculty ratio, career placement opportunities, and financial aid.
