Zikopoulos, Marianthi, Ed.
This annual statistical survey of the foreign student population of the United States reports data on 386,851 students from 191 nations and places of origin. Part I sets the survey in a worldwide context, with data on foreign student flows worldwide. Part II presents an overview of foreign study in the United States and offers data on leading places of origin, academic characteristics, personal characteristics, distribution by U.S. region and state, distribution in two-year and four-year institutions, distribution in public and private institutions, and institutions with the most foreign students. Other parts record data on foreign students by academic level, in intensive English language programs, foreign scholars in the United States, and cost-of-living expenditures by foreign students. The report includes a section of highlights and major trends, and displays data in approximately 100 tables and 25 figures. Appendices contain data on foreign student enrollment by institution, other supporting data, and codes used in the survey. (JDD)
