This document provides the procedures and instruments through which vocational education program personnel may evaluate or reevaluate the value and effectiveness of their program. It was prepared to help secondary vocational educators prepare for self-evaluation of their programs and site visits by educational personnel as part of a statewide evaluation of vocational education. Following an introduction that explains the goals and objectives of the statewide evaluation project and a glossary, the manual is organized in three chapters. The first chapter covers self-evaluation and includes information on preparation, collecting the self-evaluation data, analyzing and interpreting the data, and writing the self-evaluation report. External evaluation is covered in the second chapter, which provides a look at the goals of the team visitation, the evaluation team, the conduct of the visit, the preparation checklist, and the team visitation report. The third chapter suggests ways to use the evaluation findings to improve a school's vocational education program. Sample forms and correspondence are provided in the appendixes to the guide. (KC)
