Automation Action Plan: Implementing the New Jersey Library Automation Blueprint.
New Jersey State Library, Trenton. Library Development Bureau.
Based on the document "Final Report on the Study to Develop a Library Automation Blueprint for the New Jersey Library Network" (December 1987) and the reaction to it by the New Jersey library community, this plan was produced to guide the New Jersey State Library in meeting the goal of developing one statewide database containing the holdings information of all libraries in New Jersey. The plan is centered around the statewide bibliographic database, which is defined, and its purpose, goals, and architecture are outlined in the first section. The second section outlines the State Library's thinking on the broad issues that impact on any automation plan. Specific action steps that the State Library plans to implement between 1989 and 1993 are contained in the third section. Appended are: (1) a brief discussion of continuing education as it relates to the plan; (2) a brief overview of State Library activities since 1980; and (3) a list of the members of the ad hoc steering committee to advise the Library Development Bureau on implementation of the automation blueprint.
