The introduction and the three booklets contained in this packet are intended to provide guidance to further education staff who are implementing, or planning to implement, National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) based on the standards devised by the Administrative, Business, and Commercial (ABC) Training Group in Great Britain. The boklet on learning programs describes: background information, mapping learning opportunities, reconciling programs with learner needs, providing support to learners, learning resources, structured learning opportunities, and staff support. The booklet on assessment and recording systems presents information on: background; choosing the NVQ; determining what is assessed, and where, who, how, and when to assess; recording achievement; the National Record of Vocational Achievement (NROVA); a recording system; and the quality of assessment. The booklet on the college and the workplace is concerned with: background, work experience, enlisting employers as partners, identifying learning and assessment opportunities, matching students to the placement, visiting to monitor and review progress, maintaining quality control, integration of the college and workplace, and training workplace supervisors.
