This annotated bibliography of supplementary adult literacy materials was designed to enhance the existing literacy program being offered at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi. The annotations are arranged in the following 20 categories: automobiles; biography; communication skills; consumer information; coping skills; crafts; English as a second language; fiction; general education development; health, education, and safety; history and government; job skills; large print; mathematics; money management; readalongs; readers; religion; science; and tutor. In addition to being listed in their separate categories, the large print materials and readalongs (books accompanied by at least one audiocassette) are also included in the categories appropriate to their individual subjects. Within categories, the materials are listed alphabetically by author's last name. The annotations typically include the international standard book number, price, a brief description of the contents, the reading level as furnished by the publisher or distributor, and the call number or accession number, in addition to the usual bibliographic facts. The last page contains the names, addresses, and phone numbers of publishers and distributors of the materials. (CML)
