The Ontario Local Schools District, serving the village of Ontario and Springfield Township, offers this manual of operation which program staff developed to reflect the first year of implementation of a preschool program. Contents concern: (1) needs assessment; (2) program development; (3) facilities, equipment, and supplies; (4) staffing and personnel; (5) preschool operations; and (6) advisory board and parent involvement. About half of the manual consists of appended materials, including preschool needs assessment results; a parent evaluation questionnaire; a preschool classroom design sheet; the Carolina Developmental Profile, the ABC Readiness Inventory, and Parten Social Play Categories; and a checklist for evaluating learning environments for young children.
