Language Arts CCA Basic Skills Curriculum. Instructor's Guide.
Illinois Univ., Urbana. Computer-Based Education Research Lab.
Designed and programmed by the staff of the Courseware and Curriculum Applications (CCA) Group (a unit of the Computer-Based Education Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), this instructor's guide describes a computer-based language arts curriculum intended to move adult and adolescent students performing at the fourth grade level to the eighth grade level. The guide offers a curriculum which emphasizes usage; grammatical terminology is minimized. The guide outlines a curriculum composed of eight units of instructional materials, drawing upon lessons that teach basic punctuation, parts of speech, vocabulary, synonyms/antonyms, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading skills. Each unit consists of a pretest, computer instruction, and a posttest. Each lesson in this guide gives the lesson's file name, authors, author affiliation, and objectives; describes the lesson and interactions; and notes the intended audience, completion time, and associated lessons. An appendix lists files. (SR)
