Congress of the U.S., Washington, DC. Senate Special Committee on Aging.
A senate hearing on the role of older volunteers in the schools was held at the Spanish River High School in Boca Raton, Florida. Testimony concerned: (1) Florida's success with intergenerational volunteer programs; (2) views of the National Association of Partners in Education; (3) the Business and Citizen School Volunteers of America Act, S. 382; (4) functions of older volunteers in the schools; (5) program expansion and improvement; (6) personal experiences of volunteers and students; (7) teacher recruitment; (8) provision of services to special students; (9) Miami Central High School's Intergenerational Law Advocacy Program; (10) English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) services; and (11) volunteer services for students in crisis situations.
