This collection of information booklets offers an orientation for Florida community college trustees to various aspects of the state system. The collection includes: (1) an introduction to and history of the community colleges, including an overview of governance, admissions, student costs, and public service; (2) a description of the powers and responsibilities of trustees, which reviews the challenges of trusteeship, trustee appointment, legal concerns, responsibilities of the board, trustee performance goals, and public service; (3) facts and figures on the Florida Community College System; (4) an information guide on the system's 28 community colleges; (5) a discussion of board organization, composition, appointment, duties, officers, operating procedures, and rules and actions; (6) an overview of the postsecondary articulation in the state; (7) a discussion of trustee ethics, including sections on conflict of interest, special interest groups, confidentiality, and appropriate conduct; (8) information on the program review process; (9) an essay on managing community college financial resources; (10) a discussion of board/president relations and responsibilities; (11) an introduction to strategic planning; (12) an overview of trustees' legal responsibilities and liability and the body of law governing boards of trustees in Florida; (13) a guide to mandatory entry/exit student testing in Florida's community colleges; and (14) an essay on the trustee's role in public relations.
