High School and Beyond is a national longitudinal study of the cohorts of 1980 high school seniors and sophomores in the United States. The School File, a machine-readable data file (MRDF) contains questionnaire response data provided by administrators from 988 public, Catholic, and private schools. The file focuses on a number of school characteristics, including type and organization; faculty composition; instructional programs; course offerings; specialized programs; participation in Federal programs; funding sources; teacher organizations; and grading systems. The questionnaire contained 65 questions, and the file has 988 records. The tape consists of four files: (1) the school data file; (2) the machine-readable codebook; (3) the Statistical Analysis System control card file; and (4) the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences control card files. A codebook is available to assist data users. POPULATION: Public High Schools; Private High Schools; Catholic High Schools. TYPE OF SURVEY: National Survey; Longitudinal Survey.
