The "How To's" of Using Word Processors and Database Managers with Qualitative Data: A Primer for Professionals.
Stuck, M. F.
This guide provides an introduction to the use of microcomputers with qualitative data. It is deliberately non-specific and rudimentary in order to be of maximum benefit to the widest possible audience of beginning microcomputer users who wish to analyze their data using software that is not specifically designed for qualitative data analysis. The tools (word processors and database managers) and the techniques for using each of these types of software are described using examples from an actual study which utilized these two types of software. The data input process is described in relation to the theoretical concerns of qualitative data analysis. Retrieval needs are also discussed. A glossary of computer-related terms and a 22-item bibliography are included. Three appendixes present coding form/design, codes and definitions, and examples of completed forms, all for PFS:FILE.
