A resource guide describes the availability of support services for students with learning disabilities at colleges and universities in the state of Connecticut. Designed to help high school guidance counselors, students, teachers, and parents, it is the result of a survey of 41 institutions (public and private community, junior, baccalaureate, and graduate degree granting institutions) throughout the state. Institutions were asked to designate themselves according to a continuum of supportive services available to students with learning disabilities. The following categories were identified: no services available; decentralized and limited; loosely coordinated; centrally coordinated; and data-based. The guide provides only a description of services and is not an evaluation. Several recommendations are suggested for ensuring a good match between student and institutions: research the institution; develop a profile; make contact with the institution; and contact the Division of Rehabilitation Services.
