The proceedings of this first national conference contain papers on a number of issues concerning the employment of Black Americans with disabilities. Topics include: perspectives of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission perspective, the Rehabilitation Services Administration, the National Council on the Handicapped and the Health and Human Services; critical factors in the employment success of Black Americans with disabilities; public/private partnerships to facilitate career success for minority persons with disabilities; effective approaches to the education of Black Americans with disabilities (response included); education and its implications for the Black family; rehabilitating Black Americans with disabilities; poverty, race, and disability; communication and networking as vital links in the rehabilitation and employment of Black Americans with disabilities (response included); toward economic opportunity and independence as a goal for minority persons with disabilities; effective approaches to education and economic independence for Black Americans with disabilities (and response); and media portrayal of Black Americans with disabilities.
