This handbook was designed to provide information necessary for school teachers/administrators to develop an effective and thorough short-term adult upgrade program plan for businesses and to provide advice and suggestions for implementing the plan. The guide is organized in seven sections, plus extensive appendixes. The first section introduces the idea of school-business collaboration for retraining workers, and the second section outlines the role of the industrial coordinator in planning adult upgrade programs. The third, fourth, and fifth sections describe the planning, implementation, and in-progress stages of a short-term industrial training program. The sixth and seventh sections describe the program's follow-up and close-out stages and provide miscellaneous details. The appendixes focus on needs assessments, sample surveys of business and industry, examples of training programs, suggested forms, tips for developing programs, administrative aspects of training programs, and a short-term training check sheet.
