Academic Libraries. A Comprehensive Study of Academic Libraries in Oklahoma. Annual Report.
Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Oklahoma City.
This report of the results of the 1987 survey of higher education libraries in Oklahoma begins by briefly describing the development and refinement of the annual survey instrument used to help determine the needs of these libraries. The data tables and analyses are then presented by type of institution, i.e., 2-year colleges, 4-year colleges, and comprehensive institutions. Comprehensive statistical data on the resources and activities of the state's academic libraries are presented in 16 tables, together with commentaries about and analyses of the data. The final chapter presents a summary of the findings, which indicate that all institutions do well in the provisions for library resources and services within their current constrained budgets, but that the need to embrace costly new information technologies and lack of adequate funding place Oklahoma students and faculty in a position of having less than the national standard level of library resources for their scholarly and research endeavors. Appendixes include a list of the members of the library study advisory committee; comments on the data analysis; and the survey form. (CGD)
