Pre-Employment Skills Competencies for Vermont.
Vermont State Dept. of Employment and Training, Montpelier.
This document presents the 23 preemployment skills competencies designed to assist youth in their search for work, their life/work management decisions, and their overall work maturity. They are designed for youth served under the Job Training Partnership Act. In its entirety, the document can be used for information purposes and as a training manual for service providers. An introduction is followed by a section that provides background information on the Pre-employment Skills Competency System. It discusses the Career Hierarchy Model, which is the foundation for this system, and addresses how the competencies are implemented, measured, and documented. Section III describes the individual competencies and discusses their method of assessment and documentation. This section is divided into three parts, consistent with the three stages of the Career Hierarchy Model for which individual competencies were developed: acquisition of work, maintenance of work, and life management. Section IV provides the competency forms for each of the individual competencies. Here, all 23 competencies are compiled and presented in an abridged format. Each competency is listed in a chart with corresponding assessment method and documentation for certification. The forms necessary for documentation for certification and an interest check list follow. (YLB)
