Beginning with the 1985-86 school year, the Texas Educational Assessment of Minimum Skills (TEAMS) tests have been based on the objectives provided in this publication for teachers and test development specialists. Reading skills objectives for grade 7 include the ability to: (1) identify the main idea; (2) use context to understand the meaning of words; (3) identify specific details; (4) identify the sequence of events; (5) draw logical conclusions; (6) distinguish between fact and opinion; (7) identify cause and effect relationships; (8) identify the appropriate reference source; (9) use graphic sources to obtain information; and (10) identify the parts of a book used to obtain information. Samples of test items are included for each objective. (SLD)
