City Response to the Report of the Mayor's Commission on Hispanic Concerns.
New York City Office of the Mayor, NY.
This report is the response of New York City to the report of the Mayor's Commission on Hispanic Concerns. After reviewing the Commission's report, the city put various mechanisms in place to address the concerns and implement the recommendations needed to improve the life of Hispanic New Yorkers. An important need expressed by the Commission was up-to-date information on Hispanics. A system of data gathering and release was implemented that should culminate each year in an annual report on Hispanic concerns. There was a commitment from the Mayor's office to keep an ongoing dialogue with Hispanic leadership. Other city initiatives are outlined in the following areas: (1) education; (2) economic development; (3) housing; (4) the Hispanic public benefit corporation; (5) private sector employment; (6) employment in city government; (7) health; (8) criminal justice; (9) city services; and (10) city language services.
