This report summarizes selected successful experiences of the Participation and Equity Programme (PEP) in Western Australian government schools from 1984 to 1986. The strategy of the PEP was to first promote increased awareness of selected educational issues, and then to support schools in their responses to locally determined educational needs. The contributors to this report all had significant involvement with the PEP in a school context: either as a project coordinator or consultant to schools in which significant and successful PEP activity had taken place, or as a teacher or administrator in such a school. Contributors were invited to reflect on the long-term benefits the PEP had brought about; on the professional and administrative challenges which it had presented; and on the possible consequences of its termination. Transcripts of the interviews comprise the data from which this document was developed. (JD)
