Excellence & Equity. A Strategic Three Year Plan for Kean College of New Jersey.
Kean Coll. of New Jersey, Union.
A plan for achieving institutional excellence is presented by Kean College of New Jersey. The college's identity, heritage, values, constituencies, and priorities are defined, and a profile of the college's student body and academic program is provided. A section on shared governance presents a framework for the five strategic goals the college has identified for the next 3 years and beyond: improving access and persistence, implementing general education and strengthening academic majors, assessing and improving student achievement, expanding faculty and professional staff development, and integrating computer technology and applications. The college serves a diverse student population that includes large numbers of Black and Hispanic students, females, senior citizens, part-time students, and international students. Many of the students are the first members of their families to attend college. In addition to a wide array of student-oriented services and activities, emphasis has been placed on excellence in teaching, commitment to developmental coursework, special tutorial services, and honors programs.
