Internationalization of Management Education. A Status Report on Trends, Strategies and the Extent of Internationalization in Business Schools, with Special Emphasis on the Role and Programs of the Academy of International Business.
Kujawa, Duane
The Academy of International Business is a world-wide organization that has been concerned with the development of international business for over 25 years. Its membership comes chiefly from academe, but also from business, government, and various international organizations. It has supported international business education through publications, competitions, and involvement with business schools. It has conducted a series of surveys on the status of international business courses and programs. The most recent of these studies, conducted in 1986, contains information about curricula in two categories of schools: those that are and those that are not members of the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business. Member schools were surveyed for information on the institutional handling of international business programs; majors, minors, and course offerings in international business; establishment of international business centers or institutes; formal agreements with foreign schools, international options; and faculty specialties. Nonmember (foreign) schools were surveyed for data on: (1) graduate and undergraduate specialization areas; (2) language of instruction; (3) numbers of full- and part-time faculty and students; and (4) the existence of faculty and student exchange programs.
