READ. Reading Evaluation--Adult Diagnosis. (Revised). A Test for Assessing Adult Student Reading Needs and Progress.
Colvin, Ruth J.; Root, Jane H.
This test is intended to assist teachers and volunteer tutors working with adult beginning readers in assessing students' reading needs when beginning a reading program and determining their progress after receiving reading instruction. The three-part pretest and three-part posttest each include sections to assess students' sight vocabularies and their word analysis, reading, and listening skills. Recording and scoring information is also provided. A section of additional notes and implications for teaching includes instructions for administering the three parts of the test and filling out the summary sheet, guidelines for using the test results, and procedures for administering a group screening test and informal measures for selecting suitable reading materials for an individual or group. Recording sheets, summary sheet, and the group screening test are included. (MN)
