This report presents a profile of students at Utah State University who are considering becoming secondary school teachers. Data were obtained from two questionnaires: one administered upon the student's entry to the first required course in the secondary education program and the other when the student exited from the course. A summary is given of data gathered on: (1) general demographic factors; (2) expectations and perceptions about teaching; (3) perceptions of attitude, knowledge, and skills; and (4) perceptions of the professional component of the program. Tables containing percentages and cross tabulations from which the data were drawn are appended, and recommendations are made for further study. References are included. (JD)
