Collaborative Efforts in Dealing with Child Abuse. A Teacher In-Service Model.
Dougan, Pat; Rogers, Lorelei
Recognizing the necessity of cooperation between human service organizations and schools in dealing with child abuse, a collaborative teacher inservice model has been developed in Calgary, Canada. In addition to staff development mechanisms in the Calgary school districts, the University of Calgary has established an inservice project on treatment and prevention of child abuse. This report offers a description of the course design and a brief evaluation of its effectiveness as well as suggestions on how improvements can be made in delivering child abuse inservice programs. A comparison is made between this inservice model and a similar model developed in Georgia. (JD)
