Course and Curriculum Area Descriptions for Indiana Schools.
Indiana State Dept. of Education, Indianapolis. Center for School Improvement and Performance.
This document contains brief descriptions of the elementary, junior high/middle school programs and the approved high school course titles which are provided in Indiana's official Administrative Code Handbook for schools. These descriptions were officially adopted by the Indiana Board of Education in July, 1984. Subject areas included are art, foreign language, health, physical education and safety, language arts, mathematics, music, science, and social studies. Also included in this document are the descriptions for the approved multidiscipinary courses. These descriptions were developed to serve as models for school systems in developing curricula responsive to unique local needs. The guide does not provide extensive details on each grade level program or each high school course. Decisions related to curriculum assessment, selection, implementation and evaluation are left to each school system. (TW)
