Guidelines for Program Development--Science.
Kansas State Dept. of Education, Topeka.
This guide is designed to provide a rationale and structure which can enable educational planners and decision makers in Kansas to develop and select science curricula. The content of the publication is intended to be used by administrators in charge of curriculum, departmental and district science chairpersons, and all teachers, citizens and students interested in science curriculum planning. The guide is K-12 in scope and it is suggested that school districts in Kansas use the objectives presented in the guide as criteria for evaluation. Included in the document are sections on: (1) a model for science education; (2) learning processes; (3) psychomotor skills; (4) a learning process model of instruction, (5) attitudes and values; (6) program outcome objectives; and (7) overall science objectives and skills. The appendices contain references and suggested readings for the classroom teachers, classroom hints for the teacher, and information on what research says about teaching science. (TW)
