A Guide for Developing School Age Child Care Programs: A Manual for Starting and Expanding School Age Child Care Programs in Minnesota.

This manual is designed mainly to assist persons or groups interested in starting or expanding school age child care programs (SACCP). The seven sections explore (1) survey findings on the status of school age child care in Minnesota; (2) types of SACCPs in the state; (3) the need for school age child care in Minnesota; (4) public policy issues concerning the care of school age children; (5) five steps involved in starting a SACCP; (6) the related literature; (7) Minnesota's views on school age child care, including discussions of developmental needs of school age children, curriculum development for SACCPs, the role of employers in school age child care, programs and services to support the child in self-care, and the appropriate environment for older children. Appended materials, which constitute more than half the guide, include survey forms, lists of resources, a statement of licensure standards, program planning materials, registration forms, management forms, safety and health forms, menus and food program profiles, personnel management forms and guidelines, and program evaluation materials.
