The GMAT Exposed: Tricks from 20 GMATs. 2nd Edition.
White, David M.
This book discusses tricks for answering questions on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The tricks are based on an analysis of 20 editions of the GMAT which have been made public pursuant to New York's Truth in Testing Law. Sample GMAT questions published by the Graduate Management Admission Council are referenced to exemplify the tricks' applications on actual GMAT items. Topics in this book include: (1) a description of the test development process that is involved in compiling an actual GMAT; (2) a detailed analysis of the structure of each section of the GMAT; (3) an analysis of answer options; (4) a description of tricks for answering specific types of items; and (5) examples of the tricks from published material and commentaries. Each suggested trick is accompanied by a frequency breakdown, which provides specific data about the trick's effectiveness on 20 previously disclosed editions of the GMAT. There is a special chapter on test bias which focuses on bias against minorities, women, and low income applicants. Suggestions for avoiding test bias are offered, with examples from published materials. (KA)
