Irving Independent School District: Standardized Test Results, 1985-86.
Irving Independent School District, TX.
The results are presented of district-wide standardized testing in the Irving (Texas) Independent School District for the 1985-86 school year. This was the first year in which the Texas Educational Assessment of Minimum Skills (TEAMS) was implemented. It was administered to students in odd-numbered grades, whereas all other students took the California Achievement Tests (CAT), which was being administered for the last time. Performance on TEAMS for grades three, five, seven, and nine was average in comparison to surrounding area schools; results for grade one were not yet available. Since grade 11 students were required to pass an exit level to graduate, the exam was administered twice; around 97% passed. Although the CAT results were down slightly from the prior year in all areas except tenth grade mathematics, the scores were well above national norms. Tables and bar charts, which comprise about half of this document: (1) provide data on TEAMS results; (2) compare TEAMS results among the grade levels tested; and (3) compare the Irving district with other school districts. School-by-school results for CAT are also tabulated. (MGD)
