Caring: A Guide for 4-H Leaders and 4-H Club Members in 4-H Community Development Projects.
Cherry, Florence
The project guide for 4-H leaders and teenage club members in 4-H community development projects consists of two components, a set of leader materials and a Teen Notebook. The leader materials are presented in this document and provide one preparatory unit and four experiential units of instruction on aspects of working with young children in a day care center. Units discuss teamwork, developmental characteristics of children, learning through observation, disciplining young children, and ways of planning and working with young children. Each of the five units contains a lesson plan for the leader, leader resource materials and suggestions, and materials for the teenage participants to use in group meetings and in working with young children. Appended materials provide additional ideas and suggestions for youngsters who intend to continue the project after instruction ends, as well as a leader guide to small group instruction; materials on ways to develop alternative short-term child care activities that can be managed by teens with or without adult supervision; materials on the growth and development of children from 6 through 12 years of age; and a list of 4-H programs which might be helpful to teens in planning activities for young children.
