Part 2 of the Alberta (Canada) Education's "Program of Studies for Elementary Schools 1978" (amended 1981), this bulletin describes the planned design, parts, and scoring of the grade six English language arts achievement test to be written in June 1988, and based on curriculum specifications for an integration of thinking and communications skills. The bulletin's first section discusses the purpose, nature, scope, methodology, and procedures for the achievement testing program. The second section describes the development and scoring of part A of the achievement test (composition), and provides a test blueprint, sample assignment, and scoring guides. The final section describes the development of part B (reading, multiple choice), and provides a blueprint of the reading exam, an explanation of cognitive levels under which questions are classified, sample reading selections and questions, and an answer key with a categorical description of each question.
