Nursing Education Trends, 1981-1985.
New York State Education Dept., Albany. Office of the Professions.
Trends in nursing education during 1981-1985 for New York State are presented, with attention to nursing program applications, students admitted, total program enrollment, and graduations according to sex and racial/ethnic origin of students and graduates, along with the number of unfilled places and the number of qualified applicants that the program could not accommodate. Also included are statistics comparing national mean scores to the performance of first-time New York State candidates taking the National Council Licensure Examinations for registered nurses and practical nurses. The data are presented for 5-year periods where possible and by Regents Planning Regions to show trends and regional differences. In addition to practical nursing programs, generic professional nursing programs are covered at the diploma, associate, baccalaureate, and generic master's levels. Additional data include: number of nurse faculty in professional nursing programs and practical nursing programs by type of program; number of full- and part-time nurse faculty by type of program and highest earned credential; and nurse faculty members by racial/ethnic origin.
