Global History. A Curriculum Guide. Third Semester. Theme VIII: Economic, Political, and Cultural Changes in the Post-War World Affect Our Lives Today. Teacher Strategies. Experimental Edition.
New York City Board of Education, Brooklyn, NY. Div. of Curriculum and Instruction.
Designed for use in the New York City public secondary schools, this guide was developed to assist the teacher and supervisor in using a three semester, eight theme, global history course. This guide, which covers "Economic, Political, and Cultural Changes in the Post-War World Affect Our Lives Today" is divided into eight sub-themes: (1) "Interdependent National Economies"; (2) "Impact of Environmental Choices"; (3) "Impact of New Technologies"; (4) "Changing Demographic Patterns"; (5) "World Hunger Can Be Eliminated"; (6) Tradition and Change"; (7) "International Law"; and (8) "Careers in a Global Economy." Each sub-theme is divided into learning activities, rationale, performance objectives, teaching strategies and worksheets. The learning activities relate to a particular topic within the sub-theme and a rationale explains the relationship of the topic to the sub-themes and identifies important concepts and understandings. (This guide is meant to be used with a separate volume of student worksheets that utilize mainly primary sources to learn about past and present events.) The materials in this guide are not meant to replace textbooks, but can be used as supplementary material to enhance learning. A content outline, a calendar of lessons, and an evaluation form about the material are included. (APG)
