The worksheets contained in this bulletin are designed for use in conjunction with the teaching strategies for Theme VI entitled, "Nineteenth Century Imperialism Affected the Imperial Powers and the Colonies." The worksheets correspond to specific teaching strategies with accompanying questions on the appropriate strategy page. Included are activities for the seven subthemes: (1) Imperialism Is Dominance of One People or Country over Another; (2) Britain Gained Control of India by Divide-and-Conquer Tactics; (3) Imperialism in China Took Several Forms, among Which the Policy of Spheres of Was the Most Influence Was the Most Widespread; (4) Lack of Political Cohesion Opened Africa to Imperialism; (5) Japan Modernized and Became an Imperial Power; (6) English Conquest and Control of Ireland Had Much in Common with the "New" Imperialism; and (7) Imperialism Had Negative and Positive Effects on the Colonizer and the Colonized. In order to sensitize students to the existence of a shared cultural legacy, the Global Cultural Bank activity is included. This may be used as the culminating exercise for each subtheme. (KWL)
