Study in the United Kingdom and Ireland, 1987/1988. An IIE Guide to Study Abroad. Second Edition.
Howard, Edrice Marguerite, Ed.
A guide to more than 650 study programs in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland is presented for U.S. students who wish to study abroad. Many of the programs, which range in length up to a full academic year, are sponsored or co-sponsored by the U.S. colleges and universities. The remainder are offered by a variety of groups, including British and Irish schools and private agencies. An overview considers types of programs, finances, and travel and living. All programs are listed by country or region and city in which study takes place. Entries include: the name of the sponsoring institution, the program title, the location of the main program site, program dates, courses of study and areas of specialization available through the program, the availability of independent study and internships, program levels, credit offerings, eligibility, the language of instruction, type of courses, teaching methods, costs, housing, application deadlines, the primary contact for further information, and background information on the program, such as year the program was started and program-related travel. Appendices provide a list of consortia that sponsor programs and indexes of sponsoring institutions and fields of study. (SW)
