The handbook consists of a series of bibliographies of instructional materials published in the United States and Canada which are considered suitable or readily adaptable for the education of gifted and talented students at elementary and secondary levels. An introductory section describes the handbook's purpose, intended audience, content and organization, and related considerations. The section entitled "Professional References" consists of five annotated bibliographies: journals, magazines for children, parent references, teacher references, and supplementary teacher references. The section entitled "Instructional Materials" consists of two annotated bibliographies, one listing selected curriculum materials and the other audiovisual and computer resources. Major sources consulted in preparing the handbook are cited, and a directory of addresses of publishers and distributors is also provided. A title index concludes the document. (JW)
