Revised Performance Profile of Maryland Community Colleges: Where Does Harford Rank? Research Report 86-10.
Kladky, William P.; And Others
The Maryland State Board of Community Colleges'"Performance Profile (Spring 1986)" presents detailed data comparing the absolute and relative performance of individual state community colleges by such measures as student satisfaction with instruction, employment rates, licensing examination pass rates, and transfer goal achievement. An analysis of the data was conducted to determine how well Harford Community College (HCC) ranked among the other community colleges in the state. Major findings include the following: (1) HCC's 57% graduation rate for 1978 entrants was in the top third of all community colleges; (2) HCC's instructional ratings were at or above the means of systemwide and peer colleges; (3) in terms of percentage of graduates employed full time in their field of training (53% in 1984), HCC ranked consistently below systemwide and peer colleges; (4) HCC's ranking in terms of employers' rating of training decreased significantly in the past 2 years; (5) with one exception, HCC scores on the Nursing Licensing Examination were consistently and significantly below systemwide and peer colleges; and (6) HCC's scores on "Transfer Goal Achievement" were consistently above all others. Performance Profile Tables are appended. (EJV)
