Designed to help students acquire basic library skills, this handbook provides an introduction to the services and types of materials offered by the Wichita (Kansas) State University (WSU) Library. The handbook is arranged in three parts: (1) listings of the hours and services of the library together with the locations and types of materials; (2) an explanation of how books are arranged in the WSU library and how to find them by authors, titles, or subjects through the card catalog or the automated card catalog, LUIS (Library User Information Service); and (3) an introduction to periodical literature and government documents and a demonstration of how to use an index. A glossary of terms is provided, and appendices contain a listing of facilities for students and multiple choice library skills tests for books and periodicals. (KM)
