A one-page copyright policy adopted by the Board of Education of Carmel Clay Schools, Carmel, Indiana, is accompanied by guidelines for the use of copyrighted materials designed for the use of school staff members. Following a general discussion of copyright, the guidelines include discussions of the following topics: (1) computer software; (2) database downloading; (3) photo and/or thermal copying; (4) tests of Fair Use regarding brevity, spontaneity, and cumulative effect; (5) videotapes; and (6) additional privileges for libraries and students. A "Request for Permission to Copy" form and two letters regarding the copyright policy and guidelines are also included. (KM)
